Seek to know by heart

What do you know by heart?  In this 5th Old Testament covenant, God promises to give the people a different way to understand the divine.  God will write the holy law in their hearts, and they can choose to live together in harmony and peace.

Seek God's help

Have you ever asked God for help in a time of trouble?  Here, the Israelites leaving Egypt are in a bad situation.  They are surrounded by poisonous snakes, that they believe are a consequence of their grumbling against God.  God promises that if they look on a bronze serpent Moses created, that they will live.  Jesus references this story, comparing himself to this bronze snake.  As Jesus is lifted up on the cross, people can look to him and be saved from sin.

Seek to fear, love and trust God

What does it mean to live together in community?  How do we keep families functional?  Workplaces healthy?  The 3rd of God's covenant promises to us is found in our Old Testament reading, as we hear God's 10 commandments.  Exodus 20:1-17

Seek the Family Tree

Are you into genealogy?  God promises Abram and Sarai that they will have millions of descendants.  As a sign of God's promise to them, God changes their names to Abraham and Sarah, our ancestors in the faith.

Seek the Rainbow

What promise does God make with the rainbow?  During Lent, we'll focus on promises God makes with us.  Genesis 9:11

Seek to see more clearly

Jesus' 3 best friends see him revealed to be God's beloved son.  Will that image stick in their heads?  Does it make a difference for us? 
 Gospel reading:  Mark 9:2-9

Seek authority

Authority:  What creates it?  Who has it?  How does one use it?  Local people are astounded as Jesus teaches and heals with authority.  Do we still see Jesus as an authority today?  Gospel reading:  Mark 1:21-28

Seek to hear God Calling

Here I am, Lord!  This is the boy Samuel's response to God's voice.  Is it also ours?  I Samuel 3:1-10

Seek the Blessing

What's the most meaningful compliment you've ever received?  Hear God's amazing words of assurance and love to Jesus, as he rises up from the waters of baptism.  Gospel reading:  Mark 1:9-11

Seek to see like Simeon

A man has been waiting in the Jerusalem Temple, waiting to see the Messiah.  How will he know the promised one?  How will he greet this Savior?
